As a father of 2 girls who play, I’d like to point out that our women’s team are the current world champions and have won more titles than any other country. We’re n ot that bad at football.

For whatever reason football is mostly seen as a sport for men though. It’s certainly where 99.9% of the sponsorship money goes to. I believe Mexico is the only North American country that’s somewhat competitive.

I'm not arguing it should or should not be a sport for men, this is merely an observation.

I think it depends on where you live. I can’t speak for Europe, but here in the U.S. and also in Asia women’s world cup soccer is hugely popular and gets just as much media coverage as men’s.

Man, I felt so bad for their goalie. He probably had the game of his life, and his teammates couldn’t come through for him in the end. The other goalie had a great game, too.
